I believe firmly that the birthing process belongs to the mother and child, every mother has the right to committed, non-judgmental support. Every mother has the right to the unbiased information necessary to make her choices,  the right to listen to her instincts and be taken seriously when she does so. I believe the feeling of “ownership” is important to a good birth experience, especially when deviating from the desired plan.  I believe that enabling a mother to feel comfortable  and confident in her birth space is not only ethically desirable, but important part of the physiology of birth.  I have faith in the intrinsic ability of a woman’s body to carry and birth a healthy baby, although I wholeheartedly embrace modern medical advances, where necessary and/or welcomed by the mother.
