I cried through this entire post, because I finally felt understood! I’ve been plus size since I was in middle school, and no amount of diets or exercise has ever helped. I bought the lie for so long that I wouldn’t get pregnant because of my weight…. and here I sit – a plus-size, 31 year old, pregnant momma! No diets, no crazy exercise beforehand, it just happened like God intended.
But, I have already felt everything you said in your post because I have several pregnant or recently pregnant momma’s in my friend circles, and I don’t look like any of them. I have the same B-belly I’ve had since highschool. My husband notices a difference, but I just feel bigger. I look in the mirror, hoping to see a “bump”… and I’m disappointed because it’s never there. Thank you for writing this. Thank you for the encouragement! I will start embracing my body for the miracle it is, and start celebrating!! Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!!!

Thanks for posting this. I feel so self conscious that I don’t look more pregnant. And as I prepare for maternity photos, I am worried that I’m not worthy because it’s harder to see. Not to mention that a random OB I’ve never seen before asked me if my regular OB has asked for weekly ultrasounds due to my weight when I have had no weight related complications in my entire pregnancy up to this point (no GD and normal blood pressure). I’m so glad someone else understands.

I can relate in all the ways! It was a struggle for me to get pregnant, and every single doctor said it was because I was over weight! It made me angry. I did not lose weight, but finally have triplets coming in November! I have lost weight during the pregnancy because I have no appetite. But for carrying 3 babies, doctors are so pleased with how well I’m doing. Well I showed them! ☺️
Anyway I’ve been looking for days for a dress for maternity pictures and have gotten so frustrated every single time. But I just came across your story and I have to thank you! You look amazing in your pictures! And I’m going to get that red dress, only in a different color. I hope it fits!
