Anthe- I am not pregnant but I am plus size and have a large tummy. Underneath dresses I wear a pair of leggings that I cut into shorts to prevent my thighs from rubbing. They have leggings in extended sizing at Walmart and on amazon. This is a great tip (and cheap) and has been a huge lifesaver for wearing skirts and dresses. Plus it’s way more comfortable than spanks.

I was lucky with my first pregnancy in 2016 in that I started at 295lbs and delivered at 330lbs and I didn't buy maternity jeans until my last 3 weeks, I found them on Macys.com (I lived in them for a few months after just because they were comfy post c-s) Otherwise I lived in plus size maxi skirts from Dress Barn and Target, Yoga pants from Lane Bryant with a control top panel which helped with Belly Support, found a few loose tops at Walmart and TJ Maxx and all was well. I lost all the baby weight within 2 weeks but then came down with gallstones which required Surgery 1 month post c-s (that outpatient Surgery was worse than my c-s) When I went back to work the weight slowly crept back. Now I'm in 2018 and starting pregnancy No. 2 and everything is different! I was finally loosing weight made it to 315lbs, then the weight started to come back and I realized I was pregnant. This time I have zero energy and feel discouraged while trying to shop to buy a few items that might fit. I can't wait for December to get here and this is all over!

I'm in my second week and I think I will need to follow your tips because I'm already getting bigger. I can't seem to stop eating more and more. Pregnancy makes you hungry all the time. Anyway thanks for the useful tips.

I can't tell you how relieving it is to see this website. I am nearly 8 months now and have struggled to find anything that fits me. It's bad enough companies and clothing lines don't make plus size clothing but so many stores are taking away their maternity clothes!!! Or they have one small rack that is meant for size 2. Seriously what are pregnant women suppose to do go completely naked???? While I love the motherhood store it is sooooo expensive, I had to get super creative with my wardrobe, I wish I had been big in the summer because I could get away with the dresses but alas I am having a Christmas baby. I currently have one pair of pants that fits me that I have to wash over and over again it sucks. I ended up buying a bunch of mens long sleeve shirts at a yard sale just so I can have something for the go to times. I had a couple of belly bands but I even outgrew those but thank you for making me feel better I needed to see this.

Hi Anthe! Thanks so much for your comment. I just did a posting on the Plus Size Mommy Memoirs Facebook page for you (https://www.facebook.com/plussizemommymemoirs). I hope you get lots of helpful feedback learning how to dress for all different body types. As for size 24+ I've heard positive things about Woman Within and there's always online coupons you can use.

You have some good suggestions, however, I believe most of them work best for someone who is an apple shape. Could you provide some suggestions that would work for other shapes, for example a pear. I am a pear shape (size16/18 top and size 24/26 bottom). I know I'm going to struggle finding pants and bottoms that fit as I've already searched on plus size maternity clothing sites and most just barely will truly fit a 26 (and they don't have any larger sizes). And I can't fall back on the maxi dress solution until I can find maternity shapewear to keep my thighs from rubbing.

Could you speak to those items? And are there any maternity stores you can suggest for anyone who is a 24 and larger?
