It’s a proven fact plus size women are at a higher risk of having a c-section and doulas decrease that risk. The purpose of Plus Size Doula Connections is to encourage plus size women to hire doulas and stop getting railroaded into medical interventions. This project also makes it easier for plus size women birthing outside of a hospital to find a doula who has experience working with larger women. Having an available list of “size friendly” doulas helps to alleviate possible apprehensions around inviting a stranger into a woman’s birth circle of support.
